On the launch of 3rd generation Ryzen processors, AMD X570 motherboards also debuted on the market. What distinguishes the new platform? AMD X570 motherboards still use the AM4 socket but are only compatible with Ryzen 2000 and Ryzen 3000 series processors (Summit Ridge Generation Ryzen 1000 models are not supported). It is worth remembering this when gradually modernizing the equipment, as in some cases, you might need to replace the processor first. By the way, X570 Motherboards are also used a lot in 3700x, so make sure to check out our Ryzen 7 3700x Motherboards guide.

ASRock X570 Taichi

The Best X570 Motherboard

ASRock X570 Taichi - The Best X570 Motherboard
ASRock X570 Taichi Cinematic and Review Picture showcasing X570.

ASRock X570 Taichi Specifications

  • CPU Socket: Socket AM4
  • RAM Memory: DDR4
  • Chipset: AMD 570

Pros

  • Strong 600 A VRM for extreme Overclocking sessions
  • An impressive improvement in bidirectional MU-MIMO support.
  • The aluminum alloy-heatsink top cover effectively improves heat dissipation.

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Noisy fan on full load

The ASRock X570 Taichi motherboard is a proposal addressed mainly to enthusiasts who are looking for a top base for AMD Ryzen 3000/5000 processors. The manufacturer used an AM4 socket, four slots for DDR4 RAM (up to 4400 MHz after OC), and three PCI-Express 4.0 x16 slots – here, you can connect graphics cards in SLI or CFX mode. Eight SATA 6 Gb / s sockets and three M.2 64 Gb / s connectors are available for the drives. The X570 Taichi model is also distinguished by a wireless Wi-Fi network card in the AX standard. The lighting is hidden under an effective cover with Polychrome Sync illumination, and on the reverse, there is a metal cover.

Asrock X570 Taichi wins the best overall X570 motherboard category due to features and the price it offers. In our VRM thermal testing, the board performed exceptionally well. It offers lots of valuable features like WiFi 6, three M.2 slots with full coverage heatsinks, eight SATA ports, quality audio, Intel Gigabit LAN, plenty of USB 3 ports, BIOS Flashback, and much more. Additionally, it’s a great-looking board with some nice lighting effects if you like that sort of thing.

For high-end computing systems, such as scientific or financial computers, this motherboard supports DDR4 ECC unbuffered memory that provides server-grade performance and rock-solid durability. ECC support may vary by CPU.

Additionally, you can use Polychrome RGB Sync-certified accessories to synchronize devices. An addressable RGB LED header supports WS2812B addressable RGB LED strips (5V/Data/GND) with a maximum power rating of 3A (5V), 80 LEDs, and a maximum length of 2 meters.

This RGB LED header accepts 5050 RGB LED strips (12V/G/R/B) of up to 3A (12V) at 2 meters in length, unlike most I/O shields that come pre-mounted and are only decorated with fancy colors. IO shields can be adjusted when installed, which will fit the chassis perfectly without any mechanical issues.

ASRock motherboards include a next-generation Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax adapter. Since ASRock is the first motherboard maker to integrate Thunderbolt 3 into AMD X570 motherboards skillfully, Thunderbolt 3 is no longer restricted to certain chipsets. Thunderbolt 3 AIC R2.0 cards are necessary. Thunderbolt 3 devices are detected only three at a time.

A metal backplate prevents the motherboard from bending under the weight of heavy coolers or graphics cards and enhances airflow and stability. We used the longer lifespan EBR bearing fan to ensure the best durability. Compared with standard sleeve bearing fans, EBR bearing fans have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, equivalent to 5.7 years of continuous operation.

You can flash your BIOS in just a few clicks. With a USB and power supply, users can update their BIOS with the latest BIOS support without needing a CPU, RAM, or other components.

What We Liked

The overclocking potential and cooling solution are really good.

What We Disliked

The motherboard is very expensive. Also, its acoustic profile is quite high.

Verdict

If you are after the Best X570 Motherboard, then there is no better option than the ASRock X570 Taichi.

  • Chipset: AMD 570X

Pros

  • 19-Phase 70A VRM
  • 5x M.2 Slots
  • Cool Monochrome OLED screen

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Fewer USB ports

MSI MEG X570 Godlike is one of the top AMD X570 motherboards that will appeal to the most demanding gamers and enthusiasts. The design supports Ryzen 2000 and 3000 processors for the AM4 socket and dual-channel DDR4 RAM memory sets. For overclocking, this beast is equipped with 14+4+1 phases IR digital VRM (19-Phase 70A) for extreme Overclocking sessions. For expansion cards, there are four reinforced PCIe 4.0 x16 slots (with the possibility of combining graphics cards in SLI / CFX), and for drives – six SATA and three M.2 64 Gb / s slots.

Apart from beefy specs in the performance department, MSI X570 Godlike also features a Killer 2.5G + Wi-Fi AX network card and a good quality Xtreme Audio DAC sound card. The set includes a 10G LAN network card and an M.2 XPander-Z Gen4 card with two additional M.2 64 Gb / s slots. All in all, there is a lot to talk about it, but MSI MEG X570 is the Best Overclocking X570 Motherboard.

What We Liked

The VRM is really strong, making the motherboard perfect for overclocking.

What We Disliked

The lack of USB ports at such a high price point is disappointing.

Asus Prime X570-Pro

Best X570 Motherboard for White Build

Asus Prime X570-Pro - The White X570 Motherboard
Asus Prime X570-Pro Looking Fantastic in White Color.

Specifications of Asus Prime X570-Pro

  • CPU Socket: Socket AM4
  • RAM Memory: DIMM
  • Memory storage: 64 GB
  • 2x M. Slots
  • Memory speed: 3200 MHz

Pros

  • Good VRM so Overclocking
  • Great looking board
  • Number of USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports

Cons

  • No Wifi

ASUS Prime X570-PRO is a decent and budget-friendly AMD X570 motherboard for Ryzen 2000, 3000, and 5000 series processors (socket AM4). This motherboard is designed to provide the best performance for Ryzen series CPUs coupled with beautiful aesthetics perfect for the white build. Asus Prime X570-Pro offers a balanced performance and a clean layout that is perfect for productivity and gaming.

AuraSync RGBs coupled with ASUS’s black-and-white color scheme make the ASUS Prime the best x570 motherboard for a white build. There are PCIe 4.0 slots present for more bandwidth and future-proofing, but NVMe with RAID performance is more useful for faster SSD performance, beneficial for multimedia makers.

The manufacturer has provided a rich set of connectors – including three PCI-Express 4.0 x1 and x16 slots (with the possibility of connecting graphics cards in SLI / CFX mode), six SATA 6 Gb / s sockets, and two M.2 SATA / NVMe x4 connectors.

The good quality Realtek S1220A sound chip and the Intel Gigabit Ethernet network card are also noteworthy. The Prime X570-PRO model is distinguished by an aesthetic design enriched with the Aura Sync RGB backlight.

Although the ASUS Prime isn’t the cheapest x570 motherboard on the market, we expected to see WIFI support considering its mid-range price. But none of these are significant concerns since ASUS optimization software, super-efficient heat sinks, and well-rounded performance compensates for its shortcomings. The VRM is a powerful 12-phase VRM with doublers to make the overclocking stable, and the heatsinks on the Mos and VSOC are heavy to keep the overclocking stable. If you want a White X570 Motherboard, go for the ASUS Prime X570 Pro.

What We Liked

The looks and the durability are really impressive.

What We Disliked

The lack of Wi-Fi is disappointing.

Verdict

If you are building a white gaming PC, then the Asus Prime X570-Pro is the Best White X570 you can get.

Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero

Best High-end X570 Motherboard

Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero Is a High End X570 Motherboard
Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero Looks, Picture, and Color.

Specifications Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero

  • CPU Socket: Socket AM4
  • RAM Memory: DDR4
  • Memory storage: 128 GB
  • Memory speed: 2133 MHz and Ryzen 7

Pros

  • 16-Phase, 90A Power Delivery
  • Plenty of USB ports (12)
  • Great looking stealth design

Cons

  • Expensive

A well-known name in the gaming community is ASUS ROG, which produces motherboards and gaming equipment of the highest quality. ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero X570 was created specifically for high-performance gaming and overclocking for the latest 5000 series Ryzen processors.

Gaming enthusiasts will be even more attracted to its price, which is substantially lower than competitors’ premium motherboards (though still expensive). ASUS has designed the motherboard with a transparent black theme for any custom builder scheme, while RGB manages the colors based on the customer’s choice. The Crosshair VIII was the best x570 motherboard for overclocking and intensive gaming. A unique feature is how all components are neatly arranged throughout the board.

As one of ASUS’s top products, ROG Crosshair comes with much-modifying software, such as AuraSync, Game First V, and Armoury Crate. There is no doubt that it is a viable option for those who want to save some money. When we use the first two, the system identifies RGBs, monitors network traffic for bottlenecks, and employs the third to measure general system metrics.

Due to its capable technology, creative aesthetics, and high-end functionality, Crosshair VIII is a joy to own. You should note that an Intel-based cooling bracket is needed. A total of six SATA ports are available as well. A top-level high-end motherboard that can overclock even Ryzen 3900X strongly comes from the ASUS catalog. This board uses 14+2 power phases with IR3555 MOSFETs to increase overclocking stability.

MSI MEG X570 ACE is in tough competition with this one that provides several additional features, including onboard troubleshooting features such as Rest/Start buttons and an LCD for displaying error codes. Asus LANGuard protects 8x SATA ports and 3x M.2 slots and a Gigabit Ethernet, and a high-performance Ethernet port, which supports up to 2.5Gbps speed.

AMD’s AM4-only Crosshair VIII Dark Hero motherboard aims to be your last AM4 motherboard. Why is it such a great motherboard? Intangibles can be significant, such as a stable BIOS, a good design, and value for money. Occasionally, the thing has to work.

It’s an easy call to say that the Crosshair VIII Dark Hero is the best High-End X570 motherboard that we’ve tested. The Dark Hero has a chance to become one of ROG’s most legendary motherboards with time and user feedback, but we wouldn’t bet against it.

What We Liked

The VRM, USB ports, and looks of the motherboard are really good.

What We Disliked

It is very expensive.

Verdict

The Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero is the Best High-End X570 Motherboard you can purchase.

ASRock X570S Riptide

Best Budget X570 motherboard

ASRock X570S Riptide is The best Budget X570 Motherboard
ASRock X570S Riptide Front Looks, Black Color, Looking Amazing.

Specifications of ASRock X570S Riptide

  • CPU Socket: Socket AM4
  • RAM Memory: DIMM
  • Memory storage: 128 GB
  • Chipset: X570S

Pros

  • Great value for money
  • No Noisy chipset fan
  • Good thermals of VRM

Cons

  • No Wifi

The recent X570S chipset update (removing the need for a chipset fan) allowed motherboard partners to update their product stacks. Some recent announcements have been along these lines, but in budget, ASRock X570S Riptide is your best bet with plenty of features and affordable price.

Outside of the M.2 heatsink and the chipset, most of the PCB on the Riptide is exposed, but it’s not unattractive. Additionally, the Riptide has two M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots, Killer-based 2.5 GbE, six SATA ports, and VRMs capable of supporting the flagship AMD Ryzen 9 5950X processor at stock when overclocked.

All the other X570 motherboards we’ve tested, which are more expensive and noisier, pale in comparison to the Riptide. When using this board at its default settings, you will get what you expect when using the Riptide to boost your CPU to 5GHz-plus. The board’s VRMs were still well within specification despite overclocking.

From a technical standpoint, the new X570S chipset isn’t that different from the previous version launched back in 2019. X570S models now have passively cooled chipsets, which is the primary user difference. It offers dual PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots and supports DDR4-4000 memory up to 128 GB.

Featuring a mix of grey, black, and silver, Asus’ X570S PG Riptide has a more simplistic aesthetic. According to ASRock, a single heatsink cooled by a 10-phase power delivery system doubles as a rear panel cover. The passively cooled X570S chipset has a bit of RGB LED lighting integrated, keeping things quieter than its predecessor. As if that wasn’t enough, ASRock includes two addressable RGB and two regular RGB headers for those who want to add more RGB LED strips to their systems.

With the ASRock X570S PG Riptide, you can easily benefit from both Ryzen 5000 and X570’s support for PCIe 4.0. ASRock includes one PCIe 4.0 x16 full-length slot, one PCIe 4.0 x4 full-length slot, one PCIe 4.0 x2 full-length slot, and three PCIe 4.0 x4 full-length slots. Additionally, ASRock offers two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots and six SATA ports compatible with AMD RAID 0, 1, and 10.

It also features a Killer-based 2.5 GbE controller with Type-A and Type-C USB 3.2 G2 connectivity and a mid-range HD audio codec. Users who wish to add wireless capabilities can add their own M.2 2230 WiFi and BT modules to the ASRock X570S PG Riptide by using the additional M.2 Key-E.

Performance-wise, the ASRock X570S PG Riptide performed well against other AM4 boards we’ve tested, with good results in POST time and power consumption tests. When we tested DPC latency, it wasn’t anything special, and when we tested compute and gaming performance, it was right where you’d expect, competing with the rest of the field.

What We Liked

The pricing of the ASRock X570S Riptide is quite impressive.

What We Disliked

The lack of WiFi can be a dealbreaker for some.

Verdict

Overall, for the features it provides, the ASRock X570S Riptide is the Best Budget X570 Motherboard by a mile.

How we chose the Best X570 Motherboards

The motherboard is one of the most crucial components to buy if you’re building your gaming rig. A motherboard isn’t a simple plug-and-play sort of device. Numerous components rely on it to set the bar for the type of performance you will be expecting from your connected components.

Compatibility is a huge concern in this scenario, and finding the correct motherboard becomes tiring. So, we took on this task to find the Best X570 Motherboards in the market for your ease. You might be wondering how we concluded from such a big universe of motherboards to only a few motherboards. Let us walk you through the steps we investigated before recommending these motherboards.

Chipsets and Sockets

The X570 chipset motherboards support only AMD processors, specifically those that fit in an AM4 socket like the AMD Ryzen 2000, 3000, or 5000 series processors. So, if you have a processor in this series, you can choose any one of the motherboards from our list blindfolded. If you have any other processor in hand, check the manufacturer’s website for further information regarding the chipset and supported socket.

VRM and Thermals

VRM Motherboard
VRM On a Motherboard (Image By Tech4Gamers)

VRM is a pivotal component of any motherboard that should be considered while buying a motherboard. The Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) keeps a strict check on the voltage provided to each component in the motherboard. It gives each component the power they need, as excess voltage can cause the components to burn out. Always buy a motherboard that has a robust VRM. A motherboard with poor VRM will disrupt the voltage, causing power instability across the board, which reduces your motherboard’s performance. Poor VRMs will cause an excess voltage to leak out to multiple components, thus reducing the life expectancy of your components.

Thermals are another vital thing to look out for. Overheating of your motherboard or any of the components on it is terrible. Multiple methods are adopted to keep lower temps for the motherboard. The PCB layers are a factor to consider for keeping the motherboard cool. The more PCB layers, the thicker the motherboard will be, thus keeping it cooler.

The form factor also plays an essential role in this aspect. Heat sinks are installed in most motherboards by default. These gill-shaped metal pieces are placed on component slots like chipsets, thus allowing a smooth flow of air, which keeps the board cooler. You can also implement external cooling systems like water or fan coolers on the motherboards.

Form Factors

Motherboard Form Factors
Motherboard Form Factors

The Form Factor of a motherboard is its dimensional size. Even though multiple form factor motherboards are available in the market, some standard sizes are the ATX, micro ATX, and mini ITX. The most common motherboard size is the ATX.

The form Factor plays a vital role in the cooling of a motherboard. More significant the form factor, the less aggressive the cooling solution you need. The components have great space between bigger motherboards, maintaining the airflow and keeping low temperatures. If you are going with a micro ATX or mini ITX-sized motherboard, you will need a heavy-duty cooling solution.

It would help if you also bought a case according to your motherboard. An ATX motherboard won’t fit in a small PC case! You will need a more significant case to provide adequate cooling to your components to not thermal throttle.

Expansion Slots and Connectivity

The motherboard you choose should have expansion and connectivity slots per your requirements. Expansion slots are referred to as PCIe slots used to connect with large external devices like GPUs. If you are going with a dedicated graphics setup, your motherboard should have at least one x16 PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 slot.

It would be best to look out for multiple types of connectivity slots: the USB ports, the M.2 slots, and SATA ports. SATA ports connect primary storage devices like hard drives or non-NVMe SSDs. Nowadays, new types of SSDs, NVMe SSDs, are available in the market, which perform way better than the standard SSDs but require their own M.2 connectivity slots. If you are using the NVMe setup, at least two M.2 slots are a must in your motherboard. The USB slots are used to connect peripherals and USB storage devices. Do check if the motherboard you are about to choose has all the slots you need.

When you’re done with the important stuff, that’s where the visuals and aesthetics kick in. Performance always comes before the visuals. If you have found a motherboard that checks all your boxes, consider the visuals. After all, having a beautiful component shows how lovingly you have built your setup, as beautifying it will enhance its completeness. RGB or single LEDs on the motherboard are one way to improve your build aesthetically. Most AMD motherboards have a sleek and beautiful design, and getting lighting in them is not hard to achieve.

Conclusion

AMD X570 chipset is only compatible with Ryzen 2000 “Pinnacle Ridge” | “Raven Ridge” and Ryzen 3000 “Matisse” | “Picasso” and Ryzen 5000 Lucienne series processors (Summit Ridge Generation Ryzen 1000 models are not supported). It is worth remembering this when gradually modernizing the equipment if we want to replace the processor first.

AMD AM4 chipset has been around for like 7 years now, considering it was launched in Sep-2016, and with the X570 chipset motherboards being the most recent generation, AMD introduced PCIe 4.0 compatibility with support for the latest 5000 series Zen3-based architecture processors.
