ASUS is a top-end PC part manufacturer that has earned the respect of thousands of people around the globe. It makes high-quality GPUs that are both excellent in terms of performance and reasonably priced. The TUF and the ROG Strix Series are two of their extremely popular line-ups.

The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition comes with a factory-overclocked GPU that runs at a boost clock of 1845 MHz, implying that it can handle any task. On top of that, the solid software support makes doing this extremely easy, which is why ASUS ROG Strix Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti OC Edition is considered the Best RTX 3080 Ti For Overclocking. The GPU also comes with 12GB GDDR6X memory which is enough for most people. Whether you’re playing Call Of Duty or Rendering on Blender, the 12GB of 3080 Ti VRAM will be more than enough to power through. The graphics card also has a 450W power consumption, one of the highest in all variants of the GPU.

Undoubtedly, the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti has a premium look. The black and gray design combined with three fans in the middle makes it look beautiful. Its RGB lighting is unlike any seen on other 3080 Ti variants; it shines through the fans and the vents, making it look more aesthetically pleasing. The backplate has the unique ROG Strix logo on the right side, adding more aesthetic to the product.

The card has a superior Axial tech fan design with a reversed rotational direction and more blades for efficient cooling even under high load conditions. It also utilizes ASUS FanConnect II technology, allowing you to control fans on ASUS graphics cards via motherboard BIOS or software applications like the ASUS Fan Connect II app.

As far as the GPU internals are concerned, to sustain such power, there is a clear indication that the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition uses top-of-the-line hardware. Starting with heat dissipation, ASUS has implemented its MaxContact technology, designed to improve head conduction from the GPU die. ASUS achieved this by improving the smoothness of the heat spreader, allowing for a more even and hence, more efficient heat transfer.

VRM design is very important to check when buying a graphics card. In the case of the RTX 3080 Ti, only the ASUS ROG Strix variants have better VRM than the Founder’s edition of the GPU. This beast of a GPU uses a 22-phase Dr.Mos VRM divided into 12, 6, and 4 sectors; it is one of the best designs on a graphics card, allowing for stable power consumption, even at high loads.

High-quality MOSFETs and capacitors accompany the VRM design, used to ensure no hiccups while operating this beast of a graphics card. After all, it has to sustain 9% more MHz than the Founder’s Edition GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, right outside the box. No compromises and high-quality materials have allowed ASUS to create a beefy and formidable GPU that can reach new limits.

Power consumption is a factor you should not overlook when thinking about this GPU. The manufacturer suggests using an 850W PSU with this graphics card; it will not use all of that 850W, but it will undoubtedly use more than half. The GPU has a TDP of around 450W under full load; it needs three 8-pin PCIe connectors for fulfilling its hunger.

Another product from ASUS? Yes. We were surprised too. They make some of the best products with their designs always thought through, so consumers can utilize their purchases to their full extent; the same is true for the GPU category.

This time, we’ve got the ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition and the liquid-cooled GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. This GPU is perfect for tasks that significantly drive the temperature, like gaming or video editing. Whether you want to play Forza with cranked-up settings or have to train AI models with a full load on the GPU, this liquid-cooled beast is perfect for anything and is ready to face the challenges.

The ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition boasts higher clock speeds than the simple OC edition of the graphics card, with 1860 MHz in OC mode and 1830 MHz in gaming mode. It also has a 12 GB GDDR6X memory, which is plenty. The graphic card consumes a ton of power which is evident because it can consume up to 400W power when under full load.

Cooling is something that may concern you, given that this graphics card has one fan only. The LC in the name means that the fan is not even the primary cooling source of this GPU, and ASUS still has included it anyway. With liquid cooling, any heat generated gets instantly dissipated, thanks to the full-coverage cold plate that allows for contact with the GPU die and the memory, making it the Best Water Cooled GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card.

The massive 240mm radiator is perfect for keeping temperatures low and sustaining performance; you won’t encounter temperature issues with the ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition. Now, this is something that you cannot say for some other variants of the graphics card. The ASUS ROG Strix 3080 Ti LC variant has a different VRM spec than the non-liquid cooled one. It has an 18-phase VRM controlled by two MP2888A controllers, which can handle ten power phases each, making it extremely impressive.

With such a beefy VRM, one can expect this card to consume umpteen power. The question arises: what power supply will suit it? An 850W one is a way to go for supporting the 3080 Ti wattage. The GPU has a TDP of 400W; you can also expect minor spikes, which is why a strong PSU is recommended.  If you want to establish yourself as a true ASUS fan, you should get one of their ROG Strix 3080 Ti power supply. As expected, they have a futuristic design, which will help your PC stand out.

ASUS ROG Strix 3080 Ti LC doesn’t just look great; it also has excellent hardware. Unlike brands like Palit, which make great-looking cards but with the not-so-great build quality, this liquid-cooled RTX 3080 Ti is unlike anything you have ever seen or laid hands on. Its build quality easily supersedes that of the 3080 Ti Founders Edition.

What We Liked

Honestly, there is nothing much to dislike about this ROG Strix GPU. That means it is a nearly perfect GPU as long as you can install it. Yes, installing this graphics card can be tricky due to its large size. But that is the only obstacle or issue you will face with it. Other than that, owning this variant has nothing but pure benefits.

What We Disliked

ASUS ROG Strix LC is one of the most expensive gaming GPUs on the market, and even though we love it, we can’t recommend it as a good value for your money. It’s also more maintenance-intense than other graphics cards because it is liquid-cooled.

Verdict

In our opinion, the ASUS ROG Strix LC is one of the Best Versions of the 3080 Ti Graphics Card on the market. It can maintain temperatures pretty well; even when overclocked to its limits, you won’t see any thermals-related issues in the ROG Strix LC. That said, ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition has the highest boost clock among all the versions of 3080 Ti, making it ideal for overclocking enthusiasts. If you’re looking for a graphics card that can cooperate the way you push it, ASUS ROG Strix LC OC Edition is the best 3080 Ti money can buy.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming

Best Overall RTX 3080 Ti

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming
EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming

Specifications: Type: Dimensions: 300 x 136.75 mm | Base Clock: 1188 MHz | Boost Clock: 1800 MHz | Bandwidth: 912GB/s | Recommended PSU: 750W | Power Connectors: 3x 8-pin | RGB: Yes

Pros

  • Perfect for 4K gaming
  • Great software support
  • Great design
  • Sturdy build

Cons

  •  High power consumption

EVGA is another excellent company that has been making its name in the GPU market for quite some time. They make the most premium graphics cards, and their RTX line-up is no exception.

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is a solid choice among other graphics cards. It comes with a whopping 10240 CUDA cores and 12GB of blazing-fast GDDR6X memory, which makes it one of the fastest consumer-grade GPUs on the market today. It consumes around 450W of power, considerably higher than the ASUS ROG Strix liquid-cooled variant.

The triple fan design allows quieter operation than most cards and helps manage heat better than other cards. In addition to this, an all-metal backplate prevents overheating while providing increased rigidity like never before. Holding this graphics card in your hands will resemble a brick, thanks to its sturdy construction.

With the graphics card getting up to 1800 MHz, you will experience a significant difference in performance with the overclock. Moreover, the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti has a better VRM than the liquid-cooled ASUS ROG Strix variant. Comprising a 19-phase VRM, it can regulate voltage slightly better than the previous one and is capable of sustaining loads for a much longer time.

Thanks to that VRM design, the card can consume up to 452W on full load, which is a lot of power. But surprisingly, EVGA recommends getting a 750W power supply for this GPU instead of 850 W, which ASUS does. That’s because it’s important to have enough headroom for overclocking and running intensive games like Battlefield V or Apex Legends at high settings and resolutions. Current generation CPUs can take in close to 100W-150W. So, that leaves very little headroom for other components. Therefore, we would still advise getting an 850W PSU with this graphics card.

Still, the card remains cool and quiet even when drawing so much power, thanks to its designed cooling system with such power consumption in mind. The fans are quieter than other cards when they’re spinning but still manage to keep the card running cool at all times. All these strengths are among many reasons people consider this variant the Best Overall GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

What We Liked

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming

We’re huge fans of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming. It offers excellent 4K gaming, surpassing the 3090 with the right overclock.

What We Disliked

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is a great card with high power consumption. It requires two 8-pin power connectors and a 750W minimum power supply. That means you’ll probably need to upgrade your current power supply to meet the 3080 Ti PSU requirements.

Verdict

The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Vision OC 12G is an excellent graphics card with many great features. It is worth considering if you’re looking for a powerful graphics card that will allow you to play games in high settings. Its cons are easily outweighed by its pros, making it a great buy for anyone. Therefore, if you’re building a white gaming PC, then the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Vision OC 12G is the Best White RTX 3080 Ti you can buy.

Our Criteria For Selecting the Best RTX 3080 Ti

Choosing the Best RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card is not an easy task. There are many factors to consider, and it can take longer to narrow down the choices. With multiple variants in the market, it becomes quite hectic to choose the right ones. We at Tech4Gamers, know what gamers need, so they don’t have to research anything before they buy the card of their choice. The factors that we took into account are:

Cooler design is another important factor we considered when selecting this guide. We wanted to ensure that all our chosen variants have coolers capable of keeping their GPUs running at optimal temperatures while also being quiet enough for extended gaming sessions without distracting from gameplay audio. Variants such as the liquid-cooled RTX 3080 Ti are silent performers. You will not find better and more silent variants than the ones listed in this guide.

Temperature

We also looked critically at the temperature of each card while it was under heavy load; this is our way of determining its cooling capabilities. If a card doesn’t have good cooling capabilities, it can overheat and damage itself or other components in your system during extended use. That’s why temperature is another important factor when deciding which RTX 3080 Ti variant suits your needs.

About RTX 3080 Ti

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti boasts some very impressive specifications. With a Base Clock speed of 1365 MHz and a Boost Clock speed of 1665 MHz, this graphics card can efficiently perform any intensive task. Also, its 10240 CUDA cores allow for enhanced processing like never before; combining this with its 12GB of blistering GDDR6X memory means better gaming performance.

But there’s one question that arises: Which variant should I buy? With many vendors selling this graphic card, buyers get confused about which one to buy. Although they may use the same GA-102 chipset, which utilizes Nvidia’s Ampere architecture and has an 8nm production process, there can be massive differences between vendors. The RX 6900 XT is one of AMD’s top offerings and is an excellent graphics card. It comes in at roughly half the price of the RTX 3090 and delivers comparable performance. But how does it stack up against the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti? Let’s find out.

Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti is a beast of a graphics card. It has double the CUDA cores compared to AMD’s 6900 XT. Another major difference between these two GPUs is that there are no tensor cores on AMD’s 6900 XT (or any other Navi card yet released). At the same time, Nvidia has 320 tensor cores built into its 3080 Ti graphics cards, implying that Nvidia’s GPU will outperform its competitors in terms of AI capabilities.

The base clock for the 6900 XT is 1825 MHz, but its boost clock is 2250 MHz, a vast difference compared to its competitor. The 3080 Ti has a base clock of 1350 MHz, with a boost clock of 1455 MHz, making it slower than its AMD counterpart in terms of clock speed. The 6900 XT also has 16GB VRAM, while the 3080 Ti has only 12GB.

The RTX 3080 Ti has more bandwidth than its competitor; however, this isn’t enough to compensate for its lack of memory capacity and lower base clock speed.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has proved to be much more power-hungry than the 6900 XT; it has a rated power limit of 350W, while that of the 6900 XT is just 300W, so you better have a power supply that can meet the power demands of both of these beasts.

Still, both of these graphics cards trade blows with each other. The RTX pulls ahead, but you should not forget that it is more expensive than the 6900 XT.

Nvidia released the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti in January of 2022, and after six months, they released the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in June of 2022, making both GPU recent releases from Nvidia. Starting with the specs, if we go into further details of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the GPU has 10240 CUDA cores with 12GB GDDR6X memory working at 912 GB/s bandwidth; that is 66% higher than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, which has 6144 CUDA cores with 8GB GDDR6X memory working at 608.3 GB/s. GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has a great lead over the specs on the paper, which you can easily see because of the high memory and speed.

The gaming performance of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is not very high if we see how high the specs are; the 3080 Ti averages around 106 FPS for 1080p compared to 89 FPS of the 3070 Ti, which is just a 19% performance boost, and it is acceptable as GeForce RTX 3070 Ti cost two third of the total price of the 3080 Ti.

The Base Clock speed performance of the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is better than GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, clocking at 1575 MHz, 15% better than the RTX 3080 Ti, which has a 1365 MHz of Base Clock speed. The Boost Clock is also higher in RTX 3070 Ti clocking at 1770 MHz versus the 1665 MHz of the RTX 3080 Ti; this is very disappointing because GPU with a higher price tag is delivering lower performance than its cheaper competitor.

RTX 3080 Ti consumes more power as the TDP from the manufacturer is 350W, 20% higher than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti’s TDP of 290W, and the higher TDP of 3080 Ti is the reason that it can achieve a high clock speed compared to the RTX 3070 Ti. One of the best things about the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is the higher peak performance temperature of 78.9°C compared to the 72°C of the RTX 3070 Ti.

As far as cooling is concerned, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti has flow-through cooling technology that sucks in air from the back and throws it out through the front; this type of cooling design is not unique compared to Nvidia’s older GPU models.  Instead, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has dual fans on either side of the GPU, making it more effective in cooling as the airflow is much better.

If you are looking to buy RTX 3080 Ti to increase the game performance over the previous models like GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, it is not worth the amount of money you will be spending compared to the performance gain that you will get. Although, you will get a significant cooling performance boost because the dual fans on either side of the GPU make it very good for overclocking.
