Kingston Fury Renegade RGB 7200MHz CAS38

Memory Type: DDR5 | Capacity: 32GB (2x16GB) | Frequency: 7200MHz | Latency: CL38 | RGB Lighting: Yes | Voltage: 1.45V

Pros

  • Insanely High 7200MHz Speed
  • Stable Performance
  • Looks Beautiful With RGB

Cons

When it comes to extreme gaming RAMs, nothing has impressed me as much as the Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 RGB. I have had the pleasure of reviewing two Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 variants, but the 7200MHz blew me away with this sheer gaming performance. Therefore, if you are building a DDR5 PC and want top-of-the-line gaming RAM that doesn’t compromise on performance at all, then the Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 is the perfect RAM for you.

By sheer gaming performance, I mean the RAM’s ability to clock at a whopping 7200MHz. For reference, the standard DDR5 speed is 4800MHz, which in itself is quite high. However, this Fury Renegade DDR5 raises the bar by multiple standards by offering a solid 50% increase in frequency. Furthermore, the Fury Renegade RGB has 2 sticks with a combined capacity of 32GB, making it the perfect gaming RAM for all AAA titles. One slight downside to this memory is its relatively high timing latency of CL38-44-44. However, given the insanely high transfer rate, you won’t feel any performance hiccups whatsoever.

After some maths, the overall latency in nanoseconds of this kit comes out to be 10.5ns, which is perfect for high-performance games and other workloads. The RAM uses 1.45V of power; it isn’t bad at all, considering the transfer rate. In true gamer fashion, the Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 has a beautiful RGB bar at its top. Additionally, its heat spreader also has a very aggressive design, which adds to its gamer-ish vibes. Overall, the RAM’s design is quite beautiful, and I loved the RGB lighting on our test bench.

What We Liked

The best thing about the Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 RGB is its phenomenally high speed. With the XMP profile enabled, the RAM can get up to 7200MHz, which is more than enough for extreme gaming.

What We Disliked

When testing the Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 RGB, I found that the timing latency of this kit could have been better. Yes, CAS38 is still good, but it could have been further lowered.

Who Is It For?

Regardless, if you’re searching for the best of the best extreme performance DDR5 RAM that nails its competition, then the Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 RGB is for you. Just keep in mind it does not come cheap.

What Makes It The Best High-Performance DDR5 RAM?

  • Build Quality

Cons

  • Price

If you’re rocking a good old DDR4 motherboard and want to pair it with the best gaming RAM on the market, then the perfect RAM for you is the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB. By DDR4 standards, Corsair Dominator Platinum stays very true to its name as it literally dominates the competition with exceptional performance.

For starters, the default speed of DDR4 RAM is 2133MHz. However, with the XMP 2.0 profile enabled, the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB reaches an extreme 4000MHz frequency. This is more than an 87.5% increase over the SPD speed. The timing latency is not bad at all either; it jumps from CAS15 to just CAS18, which, combined with the 4000MHz speed and 32GB of capacity, makes the Dominator Platinum the right choice for gaming enthusiasts with a DDR4 build.

The RAM is built with high-quality materials, and you get a premium finish as you hold it. Since it is a Corsair product, you can expect it to perform reliably and with stability under high loads. Furthermore, it comes with a limited lifetime warranty as well, so even if you run into any issues, Corsair has got your back. As for the looks, the kit is topped off with 12x CAPELLIX RGB LEDs which look very beautiful. You can customize the RGB from the iCUE software to display all sorts of effects.

Best Value RAM

G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 DDR5 6000MHz CAS30 - Best Value DDR5 RAM
G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 DDR5 6000MHz CAS30

Memory Type: DDR5 | Capacity: 32GB (2x16GB) | Frequency: 6000MHz | Latency: CL30 | RGB Lighting: No | Voltage: 1.35V

Pros

  • Bang For The Buck
  • High Performance
  • Great Overclocking Potential

Cons

  • Nothing Significant

Many people prefer value for money over unnecessary bells and whistles like RGB lighting. Therefore, when it comes to the best RAM that offers the most value, the G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 DDR5 stands unparalleled. When I tested this kit, I was surprised to see just how great its performance figures were, especially considering the relatively low pricing.

First off, the DDR5 kit has 32GB of capacity, and it can go up to 6000MHz with the XMP 3.0 profile. In 2023, DDR5 RAM with 6000MHz is basically the sweet spot for great performance. It is neither too low that you would be disappointed nor is it too high that you would worry about stability issues. Furthermore, the Ripjaws S5 kit I am talking about has an excellent RAM timing of CL30-40-40-96. This means that its latency in nanoseconds is a mere 10ns. The G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 nails both aspects of a high-performance RAM, that is, high speed and low latency.

As for the input voltage, it is 1.35V, which leaves enough room for you to play around with the settings and manually overclock the kit. In fact, after testing the Ripjaws S5 with its XMP profile, I went one step ahead and overclocked it as well. By cranking up the voltage to 1.42V, I could get the memory to clock at a solid 6600MHz while maintaining the CAS30 latency. That’s a +600MHz boost without any increase in timing delays, that too at an adequate 1.42V power.

Given that it’s a G.SKILL product, it makes sense that the Ripjaws S5 is very reliable and stable, even when you manually overclock it. The manufacturer is known for producing some of the best quality RAMs, and the Ripjaws S5 is no different. Some people even consider G.SKILL as the best RAM brand, and they might just be right. For instance, with the Ripjaws S5, you get a limited lifetime warranty for extra peace of mind, which is a very comforting feature for gamers.

The Ripjaws S5 has a very simple design; the kit is available in two colors, White and Black. However, you don’t get any RGBs, which is actually understandable, considering it’s aimed at providing the best value for money. Despite that, it is actually a pretty decent-looking RAM. I personally liked the grills on the heat spreader quite a lot. One more great thing about this kit is that it is also the best low-profile RAM you can get. It has a height of 33mm, making it the perfect RAM to go for with large CPU coolers or compact form factor PC builds.

What We Liked

G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 6000MHz CAS30
G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 6000MHz CAS30 (Image By Tech4Gamers)

I really liked how G.SKILL has managed to price the Ripjaws S5 relatively low while still packing the kit with a strong performance punch. Furthermore, being the perfect low-profile RAM is just the cherry on top.

What We Disliked

After thoroughly testing every aspect of the G.SKILL Ripjaws S5, I could not find a single issue with this kit. Everything it offers is up to the mark, and its impressiveness is only enhanced by the pricing.

Who Is It For?

If you are looking for the best bang for the buck RAM, then the G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 is perfect for you.

What Makes It The Best Value RAM?

The 6000MHz frequency, CAS30 latency, great overclocking potential, and, most importantly, low pricing are what make the G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 the Best Value RAM.

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 32GB 6600MHz CAS34

Best DDR5 RAM For Gaming

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 32GB 6600MHz CAS34 - Best DDR5 RAM For Gaming
G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 32GB 6600MHz CAS34

Memory Type: DDR5 | Capacity: 32GB (2x16GB) | Frequency: 6600MHz | Latency: CL34 | RGB Lighting: Yes | Voltage: 1.40V

Pros

  • Great Gaming Performance
  • Reliability
  • RGB Lighting

Cons

  • Nothing Significant

When it comes to the best RAM for gaming, performance isn’t the only factor that matters; you also need to focus on reliability and stability. That’s because you might be able to squeeze enough performance after overclocking any RAM to run your favorite games, but you might face random crashes and stability issues, and that’s where the G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB comes in.

It is the second G.SKILL RAM to make it to my list, and it is here to offer the best gaming performance while also maintaining stability to ensure you can play AAA titles for as long as you want without any issues. As for performance, the RAM can run at up to 6600MHz frequency with a timing latency of CL34-40-40-105. Given that it’s a 32GB DDR5 RAM, these numbers are right up there to offer more than adequate gaming performance.

The timing latency in nanoseconds is also just 10.3ns, which is expected to be low since the memory kits have a good transfer rate and timing. The Trident Z5 RGB is one of those RAMs that offer the perfect amount of performance for gaming. Even though it has an input voltage of 1.40V, indicating that you can crank it up to 1.45V for more performance, you won’t have to do it unless you are chasing extreme numbers. Otherwise, the XMP profile configuration is more than enough to handle your gaming needs efficiently.

You get a beautiful RGB bar at the top that starts from the left end and seamlessly blends into the middle. The kit is available in two colors, matte black and metallic silver, and both colors have a unique design that makes them look really beautiful. Just like the Ripjaws S5, you get a limited lifetime warranty with the Trident Z5 RGB as well for extra user comfort.

I was very impressed by the G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB’s balance of phenomenal performance and reliability, the two most important factors when it comes to gaming.

What We Disliked

After thoroughly testing the Trident Z5 RGB, I could not find anything to complain about this kit. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but that’s understandable, given the set of features it provides.

Who Is It For?

The G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB is the best RAM for all gaming enthusiasts out there. It offers the perfect amount of performance to handle all AAA titles at their max settings without breaking a sweat.

What Makes It The DDR5 RAM For Gaming?

The perfect balance between a high 6600MHz frequency, low CAS34 latency, looks, and reliability is what makes the Trident Z5 RGB the Best DDR5 RAM For Gaming.

Pros

  • 3600MHz frequency
  • Looks Quite Beautiful
  • Priced Adequetly

Cons

Furthermore, since this kit supports a 3600MHz transfer rate with a low 16-18-18-36 timing latency, you have no reason to worry about the gaming performance. However, given the 1.35V input voltage, you don’t really have much headroom to overclock the RAM any further; all you get is the XMP profile that it comes it, which is enough for day-to-day tasks and casual games.

The Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL is a refreshed version of the original Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, so staying true to its roots, this kit also comes with a beautiful RGB design. The kit is available in white and black colors, and apart from the RGB lights at the top, there are tiny triangular cut-outs on the heatspreader which also display the RGB effects. Overall, the design is quite distinctive, and it really sets the kit apart from its competition. One more good thing about the Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL is that while it’s not truly the best low-profile RAM you can get, its 44mm height makes it more compatible with small form factor builds than the competitors.

What We Liked

Corsair Vengeance RGB RT 3600MHz CAS16

Memory Type: DDR4 | Capacity: 16GB (2x8GB) | Frequency: 3600MHz | Latency: CL16 | RGB Lighting: Yes | Voltage: 1.35V

Pros

  • Performance
  • Looks
  • Reliability

Cons

  • Overclocking Potential

On the other end of the spectrum, if you’re building a Ryzen rig and want the right DDR4 RAM to go with it, then the Corsair Vengeance RGB RT is your best bet. Just like the Vengeance PRO RGB SL I discussed above, the Vengeance RGB RT is another fantastic DDR4 option from Corsair. The two share many similar features, including core specifications. However, the Vengeance RGB RT is tuned to provide better stability and higher performance on Ryzen rigs.

On paper, the Corsair Vengeance RGB RT flaunts the same set of performance specifications as the Vengeance PRO RGB SL, that is, a 3600MHz frequency complemented by a CAS16 timing. As such, it has quite a low 8.8ns latency, so you can expect the kit to perform undoubtedly well in gaming performance. However, given the 1.35V input voltage, you don’t have much room left for overclocking; this is the same issue I noticed in the Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL. The lack of overclocking potential isn’t a serious issue, considering that with just the XMP profile enabled, you get 3600MHz frequency from a DDR4 chip, but it should be mentioned nevertheless.

The Corsair Vengeance RGB RT features a two-tone design; you can get the kit in either gunmetal and black theme or a white and black one, both look good, but I personally like gunmetal and black more; it is more aggressive. As the name suggests, the kits are topped off with RGB lighting, and you can use the infamous iCUE software to customize them.

Key RAM Terms

Have you ever wondered what CAS latency is? What about RAM Frequency? All of this technical jargon is very crucial for a RAM. In fact, it can make or break the success of one. Therefore, when you are shopping for the best RAM, it is necessary to understand what these terms actually mean.

  • RAM Capacity: It is a measure of how much data a RAM can store. Generally, 16GB capacity is necessary for gaming. However, enthusiasts and video editors prefer 32GB.
  • Frequency: Denotes how many times the memory will read/write data in a second. The higher the frequency, the faster the RAM is.
  • CAS Latency: The time a memory takes to perform any command (read/write) on the data after receiving instructions from the CPU. The lower the CAS latency, the better. There are other timing latencies to consider as well; they are written in the XX-XX-XX-XX form.
  • Voltage: The input voltage means how much power the RAM will take. The lower, the better. However, as you go after higher frequency and lower latency, the voltage increases.
  • Heatspreader: Its job is to dissipate the heat generated by the memory chips as soon as possible.

How We Test RAM

At Tech4Gamers, we follow specific criteria to test the RAMs we are reviewing. This criterion takes into account the key aspects that can make or break any RAM. Hence, if you’re in the market to buy RAM, you should also consider these factors to test the RAM you are considering. This way, you will buy the best RAM for your PC build.

Performance

There are two fundamental aspects of every RAM that must be considered when it comes to testing the performance, and they are transfer rate and latency. The best-performance RAM offers high transfer rates while maintaining low latencies. This way, these RAMs pack so much potential that they can be easily considered the best ram for gaming.

When it comes to testing the RAM performance, we use different software to test the memory chips under various circumstances. For instance, we test the memory latency, bandwidth, how long it takes to read/write, and many other aspects. Since we have a dedicated test bench just to test memory, we can compare the results with other RAMs we have previously tested. This way, our readers can understand the difference in the performance of each RAM, and we can use this information to recommend the best RAM for you.

Pricing

Once we have a clear picture of how well a particular RAM performs, we then consider its pricing to see if it is worth the money or not. It is crucial to scrutinize RAM based on their pricing, as it serves as the best ground to compare different RAMs against each other. Furthermore, it also outlines those RAMs that offer the best value for money, which is always a plus point to have.

Overclocking Potential

Even if you don’t plan to overclock your RAM, it is still essential to test the overclocking potential of RAM as it tells us how reliable and stable the memory chips are. For RAM to have good overclocking potential, it should have a low input voltage that leaves adequate room for us to increase. Furthermore, it should also have a high-quality heatspreader that efficiently dissipates the extra heat that is generated while overclocking.

We always overclock the RAM we test so we can tell our readers how much stable performance they can get out of the RAM they are buying.

Aesthetics

While the aesthetics are not nearly as important as the other features we test, they still hold quite a bit of importance to many gamers. That’s why we always consider the overall visual appeal of the RAM kits we test. This includes considering the RGB lighting (or lack thereof), build quality, colors, branding, heatspreader design, and other features that can add up to the aesthetics.

Compatibility

By compatibility, I mean which RAM works the best with which platform. For instance, the Corsair Vengeance RGB is more optimized for Ryzen builds than Intel. To test the compatibility, we benchmark RAMs on both platforms to see how much their performance and stability differ.

Another compatibility to test is physical compatibility, which means whether or not any given RAM will fit a particular case or not. Most RAMs are good to go with ATX motherboards, but if you’re building a small form factor rig, then remember to go through its height.
