The keyboard comes in a stylish cardboard box in red and black colors. The front side has a picture of the keyboard on the left section. The top section has the red color background. TteSPROTS brand logo and name is printed on the top left side. This keyboard is using new plunger switches with 16.8M RGB illumination and dynamic per key backlighting. The model of the keyboard is printed on the bottom right side.

The backside has the labeled picture of the keyboard on the left side with the label info printed on the bottom. The keyboard has 5 pre-configured lighting modes and dedicated volume and mute control keys.

The left and right sides have the Tt eSPROTS brand logo and name printed on the left side. The keyboard’s model no is printed on the right side below the side view picture of the keyboard.

The top cover is totally in the red color. Tt eSPROTS brand logo and name are printed on the left side and the model of the keyboard is printed on the right side.

The opening cover of the packing box has the text Professional Gaming Keyboard printed in the 16 languages. UPC and EAN info label is printed on the right side. Serial no label is pasted before the UPC label.

It has a compact or slim profile to it in terms of the surface area. But don’t let this take you away from this feature rich keyboard. It has multimedia keys, some of which are dedicated and some are not. Let’s start with the numpad. We have a full-size numpad on this keyboard with a typical US layout. Keycaps are slim and in ABS double shot material.

On the top side of the keyboard in front of the numpad are two multimedia keys. The left one is the mute key which acts a toggle one. On its right is s volume rocker which increases/decreases the volume by 2 with every roll. Rolling it up will up the volume and sliding it rolling it down will down the volume.

There are three LED indicators which light up in the blue color. First one is printed as 1 and indicates the status of the numpad. The second one is caps lock indicator by the letter A and last one is the Scroll Lock indicator. When the keyboard is locked all three lights continuously blink until it is unlocked.

There is a Tt eSPORTS brand logo and name printed in the white color above the arrow keys. Arrow keys are dual character printed indicating that they have other function as well when combined with the Fn key.

There are 9 keys above the arrow keys. The top panel has typical three keys as can be found on any other keyboard. These are Print Screen, Scroll Lock and Pause keys. They are also printed in dual characters indicating their double functions. Below them is a group of 6 keys. They are Insert, Home, Page Up in the first row and the Delete, End, Page Down on the second row. They are also printed in the dual characters indicating their double roles.

The main section of the keyboard has a standard layout. We have Esc key in the top left most row followed by the function keys from F1 to F12 grouped in 4 keys per column. The backspace and the Enter keys have same dimensions. Some people prefer the larger size of the Enter key and they may not find this implementation convenient but it is more of a personal taste than anything else.

The space bar has two spring mounted keys. To keep the conformity with the overall design there are three more switches under the space bar. The gap between the top row with the function keys and the top row on the main section is narrow as I mentioned earlier that this keyboard has slim profile design.

There is a window key on the left side of the spacebar. It is also dual character printed. The function Fn key is located on the right side of the spacebar. Let’s take a look at what key combinations have the effect on the keyboard form and function.

Now, that we have discussed the keyboard layout, let’s take a look at its switches. This keyboard features the Plunger Switch from the Thermaltake. They are new mechanical bearings from the company. Challenger EDGE Professional RGB uses unique mechanical bearings to create the feel of mechanical keyboards without the expensive mechanical keyboards.

The new class of mechanical axis provides a 2.4mm trigger keyway and 50g of pressing force (between the green shaft and the tea shaft). The user will get to experience the mechanical switch like touch and feel on this keyboard.

The keyboard features an aluminum top plate resting between the switches and the PCB. Not only that but it also has a transparent portion underneath it, running across the all four sides of the keyboard. The switches are suspended in that transparent window and the light from the LED per key shines through this transparent panel as well.

This creates the stunning visuals one could imagine in this price bracket. This reminds me of the front plate on the Corsair K95 Platinum RGB though that has its own customizable LEDs but this is not a comparison or a complaint what so ever.

The keys are suspended in floating design and there is more height between the keycaps and the aluminum plate which makes the lighting effect giving intense visuals still without uneven diffusion of the light. Tt eSPORTS have definitely delivered quite a solid design here. The left and the right sides of the keyboard illustrate what I have described above in a satisfactory manner.

The keyboard has a detachable wrist pad. It has a solid structure. Taking it off and putting it back on is quite easy. It has three rubber paddings on the backside to avoid scratching on the surface where the keyboard will be placed.

Let’s take a look at the backside of the keyboard. There is a sticker pasted in the middle. It has the model of the keyboard and Tt eSPORTS printed on it. The keyboard takes 5V DC and 200 mA maximum. There are two surface raisers on the top side to raise the front part of the keyboard for convenient typing and gaming for the extended period of time.

The bottom side has two rubber paddings to avoid scratching on the surface. There are two slide ins at the bottom where the wrist pad is attached to the keyboard. Two small size rubber paddings are on the top side in case the user does not want to use the surface raiser. Even the underside of the surface raiser has rubber paddings. The keyboard is using a USB connector to power it up.

Challenger EDGE Pro RGB provides 19 keystrokes and anti-ghosting functions in common gameplay areas including: Q, A, Z, W, S, X, E, D, C, B, SPACE, tab, ALT + L or V , CTRL + L or F, SHIFT + L, and four up, down, left and right buttons, the absolute anti-ghost ability allows players to send each instruction precisely, handier. The majority of the mechanical keyboards offer N Key rollover. 19 Keys roll over with the important keys is another plus in the design of this keyboard.

RGB Lighting

Now that we have discussed the key elements of the keyboard, it is time to take a look at the stellar feature of this keyboard which is per key backlighting of up to 16.8 Million colors and with predefined 13 color effects. To control the lighting effect on this keyboard the user has two options.

Either use the combination of the Fn and F9-F12, PrtSc, ScrLK, Pause, Ins, Home, PgUp, Del, End, PgDn keys combination or use the simple and easy to use software that Tt eSPORTS has provided.

User has the option to turn off the LED lights all together though I don’t see why would deprive himself or herself from such stunning lighting implementation. Tt eSPORTS Software

Tt eSPORTS has provided easy to use software with an easier graphical interface for the user to understand it and use it without any hassle. It is called as Tt eSPORTS GAMING SOFTWARE V1.0. The right side of the software has a large size picture of the keyboard.

It is dynamic as in it will display the color and the lighting effect on it for the convenience of the user. On the top right side, there is a Tt eSPORTS brand logo and name printed.

There is a black color rectangular box on the left side of the keyboard picture. This is where the lighting effects are controlled from. On the bottom left side, there is a drop box with the Normal Mode and Gaming Mode options. Normal mode is a default one. The main difference between both is the Macro recording. Macros are not available in the Normal mode.

Clicking on the Static option under the Lighting checkbox on the top left side will open the drop-down list with all the pre-defined color effects. The user can select any and the corresponding effect will also open below the drop-down list. Most of these settings allow the users to control the brightness of the lights, the speed of the effect and starting direction of the effect.

Clicking on the Customize Zone will open another drop-down list. This is where the pre-defined gaming color effects can be selected and loaded.

Lighting can also be turned off.

To record the Macro, select the Gaming Mode. Then click on the Key Assignment checkbox. Select on any key and it will open a new window.

The user can set a new keypress for the selected key or have it launched the multimedia file or launched the created Macro. The user will first have to create a macro. The software will ask for the name of the Macro. Once the name is set, the user can start recording the macro and assign it to the selected key for the action.

The windows key can be locked as well using it with the Fn key at the same time. There are two dedicated multimedia keys right on top of the numpad.

These are the mute button and the volume rocker. Unfortunately, the position of the volume rocker is not convenient. As the keyboard packs a slim profile and the keys are well suspended in floating layout this adds more height to the keys and switches. So, invariably the hands will touch the top right * and – keys on the numpad before making contact with the volume rocker.

Even the rocker can be hidden from the user when facing the keyboard and monitor at a certain distance. The other multimedia keys like next/previous track, play/pause and stop buttons work in tandem with the Fn key. Also, calculator, web browser and My Computer/This PC explorer window can be launched from the keyboard.

Some keys were hard to press initially but with the regular usage, they open up and typing, gaming was convenient even for longer sessions of the usage. Other than the position of the volume rocker button, I have no complaints or observation to report.
