Cyberpunk 2077

• The first game I played to check the performance of the two GPUs was Cyberpunk 2077, where the RTX 3090 produced 35 FPS on average and defeated the RX 7800 XT’s 31 FPS by 12.9%.
• Regarding the low 1% frame rates, the RTX 3090 mustered up 28 FPS, while the RX 7800 XT yielded 25 FPS.

Forza Horizon 5

• While playing Forza Horizon 5, the RX 7800 XT led the performance by producing 97 FPS. In contrast, the RTX 3090 only produced 93 FPS, 4.3% behind the RX 7800 XT.
• Both GPUs follow the same trend at low 1%. The RX 7800 XT produced 85 FPS at low 1%, while the RTX 3090 delivered 79 FPS.

Hogwarts Legacy

• When I played Hogwarts Legacy at 4K, the RTX 3090 again led with its average frame rate of 57 FPS and surpassed the RX 7800 XT’s 51 FPS by 11.8%.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Resident Evil 4

• While I was playing Starfield at 4K, the RX 7800 XT outperformed the RTX 3090 by 10.0% with an average frame rate of 44 FPS against the RTX 3090’s 40 FPS average.
• In my low 1% performance analysis of this gaming session, the RTX 3090 achieved 33 FPS, whereas the RX 7800 XT managed 39 FPS.

The Last of Us Part I

• In testing of The Last of Us Part I, I noticed the RTX 3090 outperforming the RX 7800 XT, achieving a superior 61 FPS average at 4K, surpassing the latter’s 49 FPS by 24.5%.

It’s been almost two months since Alan Wake 2 was released. While the game is undoubtedly a massive success among the fans, the financial numbers might not have lived up to expectations.

Why it matters: Alan Wake 2 bagged multiple awards (Best Art Direction, Narrative, and Direction) at The Game Awards, so there is no doubt about its quality. However, this success may not have been reflected in the sales figures.

According to Circana's Player Engagement Tracker, Alan Wake II ranked 147th in November active user count on XBS and was 113th on PlayStation 5.

Concerns were raised when Mat Piscatella from Circana reported that the game failed to make it among the top 100 played titles on Xbox and PlayStation. While Epic Games sales weren’t included, this was a major red flag.

In a year like 2023, Remnant 2 sold 1 million copies in a week. Therefore, there was reason to believe Alan Wake 2 would achieve even better results, but nearly two months after launch, Remedy Entertainment has not made any announcements.

If the game has indeed sold poorly, there could be a few reasons for this outcome. On PC, Alan Wake 2 is an Epic Games exclusive. Most people dislike the publisher compared to other platforms like Steam or GOG. Therefore, the sales may have taken a hit after this decision.

Furthermore, the horror game did not get a physical release. Despite the digital age, many people still prefer to buy physical copies. Both factors combined may have resulted in poor performance for Alan Wake 2.

Ampere Analysis predicts the game sold around 850K copies on consoles. While not terrible, this result is a bit of a letdown for a game with so much excitement. Since the studio is yet to announce the 1 million milestone, the total sales across all platforms may be just behind this figure.

As noted by users on Reddit, three unannounced projects from Insomniac Games have been spotted, including Spider-Man 3, RC3, and Spider-Verse.

If RC3 refers to a new Ratchet and Clank game, the first two are not too surprising. Spider-Man 3 has already been teased, and a new Ratchet & Clank game will likely show up at some point after Rift Apart became popular on the PS5.

Therefore, the existence of Spider-Verse on this list has raised a few eyebrows. Fans are excited after this leak, and many have begun to speculate whether Insomniac Games’ multiplayer project could be a co-op Spider-Man game.

When Spider-Man 2 confirmed seamless switching, many expected co-op in the game. They believed that this would be the natural progression for the studio, but it never came to fruition.

Even though this is not the first time Nvidia has participated in a custom graphics card giveaway, throughout the year, the price of the custom GeForce RTX 4090 listed on the promotion has gone down significantly.

The price of the GeForce RTX 4090 in the first promotion was listed at $1,980 MSRP. This came down to $1599 in September, and the latest promotion lists it just below $1400.

For now, the GeForce RTX 4090 retails around $2000 despite Nvidia setting an MSRP of $1600 back in 2022. The price can vary from country to country, but it usually does not fall below $1800-1850 in the US market.

While we aren’t exactly sure why Nvidia listed such a low price, this may have something to do with the rumored GeForce RTX 40 super lineup. This lineup is expected to show up at CES 2024, potentially bringing a price drop for the GeForce RTX 4090 along the way.

According to her portfolio, early work on the game began in January 2022, making it likely that Marvel’s Blade is no longer in pre-production like many initially expected when Bethesda’s recent blog post claimed that it had just begun development.

In September 2021, Arkane Lyon wrapped up work on Deathloop. After the game was released for the PS5, more content and updates were released, but the team’s core focus had likely shifted to this Marvel project by that time.

This is fantastic news since it suggests that the developers may already be quite far along in the game’s development. With several years of work done, a vertical slice of gameplay could also be showcased sooner than expected.

For now, not much is known about Marvel’s Blade. Apart from an art style resembling Deathloop, fans have not been able to get much out of the short teaser, but Arkane Lyon has confirmed a single-player adventure set in Paris.
