Alternatively, you can disable the Steam Input for the game you are trying to play for a smoother experience. Doing so will prevent Steam from interfering with controller settings. However, here is what you can do if the PS5 controller is not working on your PC.

Resort to these simple steps:

1. Right-click on the game in Steam > Properties
2. In the Override box, select Disable Steam Input.

   

Change The Default Controller Settings

While testing the fixes, I noticed that the default controller in Steam is always set to Xbox One Controller, no matter which controller is connected. Hence, I changed this setting and ensured that Steam recognizes the controller as a PS5 controller. 

Here are the steps we followed:

1. Close Steam > Disconnect the controller.
2. Head to the PC > Go to Local Disk C > Progam Files (x86) > Steam.
3. Click the Search Bar on the top-right > Type config.vdf > Initiate the search > Click Config > Launch it in the Notepad.
4. You need to delete a certain line in this code. To find it easily, press Ctrl+F > Execute dev in the box.
5. Look for the data that begins with SDL_GamepadBind > Delete this whole line. It might look like this:

Moreover, I disabled the DualSense option in-game and connected the PS5 controller to the PC using a compatible USB cable instead of a wireless connection. Consequently, Steam detected my controller. Additionally, users across Reddit also got rid of the trouble with this same technique.

Use HidHide App

Downloading a third-party software, HidHide, that prevents Steam from detecting any controller or peripheral was also a practical fix for me. By configuring the software, I manually set the PS5 controller to work on Steam games. 

Use DS4Windows

DS4Windows is an application that helps connect and configure gaming controllers on a Windows PC. I resorted to the software to make Steam recognize the connected PS5 controller, and it did.

These steps will guide you:

1. Download and open DS4Windows > Settings > Device Options.

   

2. Mark the DualSense option > Return to the main tab > Hit Start.

While researching, I learned that it is a common problem faced by Steam users, as reported in several communities like Steam Community and EA Answers, usually resulting after Steam updates or messing up with the in-app controller settings. However, I effectively got the controller working using the above solutions in no time. If the problem persists on your end, even after trying the fixes, refer to Steam Support.

3. Hit the Enter key, wait patiently for the scan to finish, restart your system, and see if the error disappeared.
4. Next is a DISM scan. Type in these three commands one by one and press Enter after each to execute them:

   dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
   dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
   dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

5. Performing a disk check on your computer is an essential step to detect and fix hard drive glitches, which could be the culprit behind the error. By conducting regular scans, you can keep your disk and operating system safe from various errors.

Scan For Viruses And Malware

Malware and virus attacks sometimes cause severe system damage and give rise to BSOD  errors. To clean the system, I ran a threat scan for malware and viruses on our system through the Microsoft Defender Offline Scan built-in tool or the Full Scan option available in Windows 11, which proved beneficial in working around the issue.

As the scan checks the system thoroughly, it may take a while to finish. Hold on and let the procedure wind up and eliminate the corruption, if there is any. See if the error resolves after the scan.

Use Bootrec Command

Another way that many Windows 11 users found helpful, including us, in solving the BSOD issue is by running the bootrec command. Windows Recovery Environment utility for repairing critical disk structures is bootrec. which updates the partition boot sector code and master boot record code. It’s a very useful Windows built-in command-line troubleshooter for boot-related glitches.

Here’s how to execute the command:

1. Open Command Prompt > Run as administrator.
2. Copy the following commands and press Enter after pasting each one given below in the command line.

   bootrec /fixmbr
   bootrec /fixboot
   bootsect /nt60sys
   bootrec /fixboot
   bootrec /rebuild

3. Wait for the commands to run promptly, and it may resolve the error.

This fix effectively worked for me, and I found out that YouTuber viewers also got the error fixed.

Use System Restore

Restoring your system to a predate before the appearance of the obnoxious error, you can fix the issue and continue working peacefully on your Windows 11.

The steps to execute a system restore are as follows:

1. Hit Start > Search bar > Type restore > Create a restore point > System Restore > OK.

   

2. To restore the system to the error-free point, select a date or event before the error.
3. To learn about the drivers and programs affected by the restoration, hit the Scan for affected programs button or click Next > Finish.

Reset Windows

If you have tried all the ways to fix the issue but still can’t get rid of the annoying BSOD error, then resort to resetting your PC. This fix will eliminate all the system errors but ensure all the data is backed up before performing the task, as otherwise, you may lose your crucial files.

 Important: You can save your personal system files by clicking on Keep My Files while other app settings will be reset. By choosing Remove Everything, all the system settings and your files will be removed.

Hard drive issues, disk errors on the PC, incomplete or corrupted installation files, and third-party software conflicts may prevent the update.

Enable UEFI On BIOS

UEFI is an advanced version of BIOS that promotes faster booting time, enhanced security features, and better support for modern hardware. Enabling UEFI may help resolve the Windows installation error.

1. Click Power menu > Restart > Enter Boot Mode by pressing the relevant key according to your computer’s manufacturer.

3. Save the settings with F10 and exit the menu.

Drive Partition Recognition

A drive partition recognition problem causes the error to trigger. After partitioning the internal M2 drive, the installer attempts to install the files on the USB.

Here’s how to solve the partitioning issue:

1. Boot using USB drive > Command Prompt > diskpart> Enter.
2. Delete partitions > Convert to GPT to boot in UEFI.
3. Now, create a partition in an M2 drive of 10GB and format it as NTFS.
4. Keep a letter for this partition and the other partition as Unallocated.
5. Cut/Paste the files from the USB to the drive partition.
6. Eject USB > Restart system.
7. The system will boot from the installer and install Windows.
8. Again, boot your system, and it will automatically boot to the partition we created before, as it was assigned as the first partition.
9. To remove that partition from the boot list, go to Command Prompt > diskpart > Enter > Restart the system.

While researching the error, I found that this method was also being used to fix the error by users on the Microsoft forum.

Remove HDD / SSD

The main root cause that I came to know after working around this error is that my system has several SSDs and HDDs, which were creating conflict as the Windows installer was unable to determine which drive to choose to install files.

I removed all the extra memory drives, even the external ones, and left one in the system where I wanted the installer to save the files. And voila! It worked. The system successfully booted after this fix!

Format USB as MBR

For several reasons, formatting your USB drive for MBR can potentially fix some of the Windows errors. MBR is a format that works better with older computers and is able to function as a bootable drive, which comes in handy when installing an operating system on a computer. Partitioning MBR drives is easier than the other formatted drives.

Here’s how to format a USB drive for MBR:

1. Connect a USB to the system > Open a disk management program > Right-click USB > Choose Create Partition > Choose MBR.
2. Select NTFS or FAT32 file system > Label partition > Click OK.

Using Command Prompt

After rebuilding BCD, if you are still facing the error, the following steps will surely help you fix the error.

Here’s how:

1. Go to Windows Recovery Environment > Command Prompt.
2. Copy/paste the commands below and Enter after each:

   Diskpart
   select disk 0
   list partition

3. Here, note down the partition where Windows is.
4. Copy/paste and Enter the following command:
   select partition X
5. Replace X with the partition letter you have noted above.
6. Now, copy/paste:

   active
   exit
   bcdboot C:\Windows (If C is the Windows partition)

This method proved a viable solution for me, and I found that it also helped YouTube users.

Disable Driver Signature Enforcement 

Incompatible or corrupted drivers may trigger the error. We recommend you temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, which can help diagnose the issue and help you uninstall any problematic drivers. 

Here’s how to disable driver signature enforcement: 

1. Boot using a bootable drive > Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Click Restart.
   
2. Select Disable Driver Signature Enforcement using the number keys or function keys. Press F7.
3. Boot into Windows and update or uninstall problematic drivers.

Use Automatic Repair 

Windows has a built-in Automatic Repair feature that can fix common boot issues, including Error 0xc00000e.

To use the Automatic Repair feature, follow these steps: 

1. Boot from installation media > Click Repair your computer > Advanced Options > Select Startup Repair.

We updated the driver to the latest version and got the Bluetooth connection restored to normal.

Disable And Re-enable The Bluetooth Adaptor

While working out a way to resolve the error, I found that turning off the Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection feature from Windows Security fixes the Kernel error well. You can trust this repair method, backed by my first-hand experience and from numerous Windows 11 users.

Here’s how to operate:

1. Access Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Device Security.
2. Click Core Isolation Detail.

   

3. You’ll see the Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection option > Turn it off via the toggle > Yes > Restart the PC.

This also seems to work for many Reddit users facing the problem.

Fix RAM Issues

Based on my findings while troubleshooting the error, faulty RAM cards can cause the Kernel Security BSOD error. However, running the Windows Memory Diagnostic utility identifies and fixes the malfunctioning RAM. The solution got rid of the error on my PC.

I went with a soft reset by choosing to Keep My Files, and it was successful.

Once in the BIOS, the method to enable Virtualization depends on whether your CPU is from Intel or AMD.

Enabling Virtualization In BIOS for Intel CPUs

Here’s how to enable Virtualization for Intel CPUs:

1. Select Advanced Mode or hit F7 > Advanced > CPU Configuration.
2. Opt for Intel Virtualization Technology > Choose Enabled > Exit > Save changes & reset.

   

Enabling Virtualization In BIOS for AMD CPU

Here’s how to enable Virtualization for AMD CPUs:

1. Select Advanced Mode or hit F7.
2. Enter Advanced tab > CPU Configuration.

Windows Subsystem for Linux or WSL enables your system to run the Linux environment on the Windows systems. By re-enabling this feature, I fixed the persisting Docker startup issue.

1. Access Run > Type Optional Features > Enter.
2. Look for Windows Subsystem for Linux > Uncheck the box against it > OK.

   

3. Close the dialog box > Repeat the above steps > Mark the box against Windows Subsystem for Linux.

During my research, it came to my attention that multiple users were facing this error, as can be seen on Reddit and the official Docker forum. The issue can seem frustrating, but the methods I mentioned above shouldn’t take long to fix it. I was personally able to fix the Docker stuck on starting issue in a few minutes, so you can expect to spend the same amount of time. Modify The Registry Keys

Modifying the registry keys can help you resolve the File Explorer crash glitch. We tried this fix, and it worked efficiently for us because it restores the configurations to the default state, removing any problematic settings.

2. Run the following path:

Remove A Windows 11 Update

Hence, we deleted the recent Windows update from our PC. After restarting, File Explorer ran fine.

Sometimes, you might not find the power options in the designated menu in Windows 11 and instead see an error message “There are currently no power options available.” A few reasons for the error could be insufficient account permissions, system file corruption, corrupt power plan, bugs in the system update, incorrect value in the Windows registry, or outdated battery driver

Editing the Windows Registry can help fix different errors, including the “There are currently no power options available” error. However, make sure to be extremely careful while editing it, as it contains important files.

Here’s how to edit:

1. Access Run with Windows+R > Type regedit > Hit the Enter.
2. Navigate the key on the Registry Editor’s left section,

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

3. Look if a NoClose entry is available under the key and check its value.
4. If the value is set as 1, it is the error’s culprit. Double-click on the entry > Change the value to 0 > Hit OK > Restart PC.

On Reddit, some users also claimed that editing the registry brought back the power options for them. 

Remove Malware And Virus

Malicious software programs can disrupt system functions and cause errors in the core computing functions, such as the power options issue you’re facing.  So, get rid of malware or virus on your system. It worked for me and could be your problem solver in eliminating the power options availability error.

Fix Power Options

A credible fix that became my lifesaver in solving the trouble is fixing the power options. It’s a simple method in which you’ll need to run the powercfg command. 

Here’s how to run the command:

1. Launch the Command Prompt with admin privileges.
2. Execute the command line:

   powercfg-restoredefaultschemes

3. In case the above commands don’t function, then use the alternative:

   secedit/configure/cfg%windir%\ inf\defltbase.inf/dbdefltbase.sdb/verbose

4. Once the commands finish successfully running, restart the system. 

Run The Executable File Command

The Command Prompt is an excellent tool, and it can be used to solve different problems that you may encounter while using your PC. I used the Taskkill.exe command, and it brought back the power options for me. 

Here’s how to execute the command:

1. Open the Command Prompt in administrator mode.
2. Run the given commands one by one: 

   taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F 
   Explorer.exe

While researching the error, I found that the same method worked for several people on YouTube as well. 

Run The Power Troubleshooter 

An efficient way to eliminate the error and make the power options appear on the Start menu again is to run the Windows power troubleshooter.

Here’s how to run the troubleshooter:

1. Access Settings > Highlight System on left > Troubleshoot.
2. Go for Other Troubleshooters > Scroll to the Power section > Run.

   

3. If the utility finds an issue, hit Apply and follow the instructions on the screen > Restart system.

Reset Windows 

While working on the issue, if you’re struggling to solve the glitch in the discussion, resetting your Windows PC option can be used as a last resort. By resetting the operating system, Windows is restored to its original state.

After installing the newer Windows updates on my computer, I noticed that the power options menu was gone. Moreover, users across multiple forums, like HP Support Community and Microsoft Community, seemed to have the same issue. There has been no official response from Microsoft Support, but the above-mentioned workarounds were helpful in my case.
